Anti-Tank Lances Inspiration[]
The Anti-Tank Lances seem to be a mix of many different Anti-Tank Weapons of WWII.
At first glance we see a Panzerfaust or a RPG-2, but I give a good look over and I see what looks like a recoil spring behind the warhead. So I thought of one Anti-tank weapon that has a spring in its design and that is the British PIAT (Projector, Infantry, Anti-Tank) which is a spigot mortar, that seem to work for Mortar Lance as they are the closest to a spigot mortar. This seem to not work well for the Anti-Tank Lance, but then I thought about the way the AT-Lance warhead is launched, it is first spigot launched and then the small rocket motor kicks in after a short distance from the weapon just as the RPG-7 operates, this method would reduce the recoil from launching the warhead of a Lance to tolerable levels.
Here is a link to the PIAT design for the details of its firing method. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bluefoxp (talk • contribs)
Lances[]
The spring-rocket launch theory seems to work well, as all lances have a large bulge at the top (VC2 style). Lancers blastshields as well as the plates on the lance would help disperse the smoke and rocket motor. I swear I have seen what looks like a spring on mortar lances, this may mean they are spring fired, then the rocket motor engages. This would also explain why the lance would have no exit hole at the rear, as instead of goining down the tube, the smoke, and recoil of the rocket motor, get send on the always prescent blast deflectors. The shape of imperial lances would deflect smoke away from the user more effectively than a gallian lance, reducing the need for a massive blast shield.Roebot56 18:41, November 20, 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Roebot56 (talk • contribs)
Trivia[]
With the information about the PIAT and how the AT Lances might work on the same principals of a PIAT with a rocket motor warhead.
As so far the Trivia that provided on the page right now talks about the AT Lances acting as a Panzerfaust without a back blast opening.
Should we change in light of this concept of a Spigot launched Rocket Propelled Anti-Tank Lance?
