The reason I've been noting that the Gierolul resembles the Sherman with a T-34 Calliope is that, even though there are other tanks that have rocket launchers mounted on them, only the T-34 was mounted in a way similar to the Gierolul's launchers. Other vehicles had the launchers replace the turret entirely. In the case of the Ontos, they serve as the main armament, and a tank doesn't have to look EXACTLY like its real-life base tank. The Imperial Heavy Tank minutely resembles the French Char B1 and its variants, but it looks enough like it to conclude that the Developers might have drawn inspiration. Same with Audrey's tank and the Calliope. RedShocktrooper 17:52, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

  • Yes, but the tubes themselves are very obviously based on the M40 recoilless rifles mounted on the Ontos; look at the way the rear of the tube flares outwards, that's the breech of the M40. The sheer length of the tubes also makes it obvious; basically, it's the guns of an Ontos (minus one) mounted similarly to a T34 launcher. What I objected to was the idea that the mounting was "identical" (as originally said) when it's actually very different; the T34 is mounted high off the turret with a frame secured to the sides of the rack, while on the Gierolul the pivot is between the launcher and the tank's roof. • Well, also, take into account the stated diameter of the barrels is 150mm, like the sIG 33. While you might not own a PSP, I can confirm that the Gierolul's rocket launchers probably rival the BM-21(?) Grad in firepower-per-rocket. While it resembles the M40, chances are that might be coincidental. With the nature of the tank, it's impossible to tell.RedShocktrooper 08:24, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
      • Well, obviously they're M40s turned into rocket launch tubes (no breech block, simplified barrel, etc) rather than exact clones, but I've never seen a multiple rocket launcher with a long barrel and flared rear tube like that; the BM-13s (think you mean that one, BM-21 is modern) launched off exposed rails, Calliopes were straight tubes, and while there were roughly three billion Nebelwerfer variants I've never seen one that was built like that, they were stubby tubes. Like I said, it's basically a strange Ontos-Calliope that launches rockets. Which is awesome. :D Evil Tim 08:58, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
