Into the Woods is the second hard skirmish of Valkyria Chronicles 4. This uses the same map as Chapter 05: Behind the Frontlines. It is unlocked once the main story has been completed, along with Into the Woods and Beneath the Frost.

Briefing

Location: Einhemt

Description: Armored enemies are advancing on Einhemt. They now have Squad E surrounded and are advancing at a steady pace. Use the small pathways and the nearby ragna-crates to push the enemy back and out of Einhemt.

Strategy

The mission here is basically a harder version of the Squad F mock battle from Chapter 5. What you want to deploy in this mission is your leader units, and have four extra shocktroopers. Kai should be equipped with the ASR type sniper rifle. this is used to killing the enemy ace. Bring the Cactus as well.

Anyways, as you start the mission, command Kai and look for the lancer standing on the roof all by himself in the southwest corner of the map. This lancer is actually an enemy ace and killing him will drop the VB MT 2B(e) anti-tank lance.

Then command of Minerva and head towards the northeast camp, you will be immediately shot at by a tank, ready your weapon as soon as you can to stop the tank from firing at you, there is actually a Ragna-crate right behind the tank and shooting a grenade with your grenade rifle should instantly blow up the tank. along with the engineer next to it. Capture the camp.

Switch to one of your shocktrooper, and climb the ladder to your left, this will lead you to the northwest camp, a shocktrooper should easily able to capture this camp by using his flamethrower.

Now you will need to capture the three camp on the bottom. use the Cactus and pick up three of your shocktroopers and proceed to the southwest side of the map. The Cactus should destroy the barricades to the southwest camp. Try to be careful as there will AT Cannons which can deal massive damage on the Cactus.

Anyways, deploy one of your shocktroopers to capture that camp southwest, and then deploy another shocktrooper to go for the bottom center one. Then move the cactus to the southeast camp until its AP right low, when that happens, deploy the last shocktrooper in your tank and capture the last camp to complete the mission.
