Off the Rails is the eighth hard skirmish of Valkyria Chronicles 4. This uses the same map as Chapter 17: The Final Choice, Part 2. It is unlocked after the first six hard skirmishes have been completed.

Briefing[]
Location: Centurion, Engine Room
Description: Imperial infiltrators have taken control of the Centurion's engine room and are advancing on the bridge. Send an ally to the target to give chase and stop them. Vehicles cannot be deployed in the ship and Ship Orders are unavailable.
Strategy[]
This skirmish is basically a harder version of Battle Aboard the Cruiser from Chapter 17. The objective here is to reach the destination with a single unit. As long as you know the direction of getting there, the mission should be easily completed in a single turn. Since this is a post game mission, you should have most of your units maxed out by now or at least very well equipped.
What is necessary here is have the latest equipment along with gear that can raise your defense. When you begin the mission, deploy your leader units along with an extra scout. Start the mission by using the Order, All Unit Defend. This is a requirement to survive the massive enemy crossfire you're gonna take. Anyways what you want to do is use Kai and snipe the shocktrooper located on the east side of the map. Then move to where location where you have killed the shocktrooper. From there, look for a sniper on the bottom center of the map. Then kill this the sniper. You can use an extra CP to kill one of the scouts with Kai.
Now have Minerva use her Direct Command, then bring Raz and another scout with her. Have Minerva head to where Kai is, and go a bit further, there will be a stair that will take you down below. Use the Rifle Grenade to at the two shocktroopers hiding near the sandbags. Use the Minerva again to take out those shocktroopers. Then have Raz and rush to the bottom center of the map, he will be fired with a ton of enemy crossfire, there should be two shocktroopers guarding right the area destination. Use his flamethrower to wipe out the two shocktroopers. Since the shocktrooper on the left is an enemy ace, there is a chance he might actually survive the blast.
Since scouts are really fragile, you might actually need to use the Order inspiration to get the defense to boost to reduce the crossfire damage to 1. Use the inspiration order on the extra scout that Minerva brought with her, and rush to the destination area, if the enemy ace is still alive, throw a grenade at him to finish him off. Killing the enemy ace will drop the ZM MP 7(e) machine gun. Then move the scout the destination area to complete the mission.
If you have trouble completing the mission in a single turn. Then you will need split some of your forces to go on the west path. The west path has fewer enemy forces, however, you will end up finding a shocktrooper is actually crouching on a sandbag, along with enemy grenadier at the bottom left side of the map. This path can lead you to the side of the Gatling guns, and destroy it should provide safety for the unit to the reach to the destination area.
