Credits are part of the Class change System introduced in Valkyria Chronicles 2.

The Credits are used as "parts" for advancing characters to a different class, similar to the creation of advanced weapons and armor. This is the only method by which characters (excepting Avan, who may change to the basic five classes at will) may change class, as well as acquiring new medals and titles later in the game.

Credits are awarded to individual characters, instead of the group; this means that credits earned on one character cannot be transferred or used on another character. Credits are handed out based on contributions in combat: the more a character participates in various ways, the more Credits a character earns. The top and second place earners may earn up to four and three different types of credits, while others may earn two different types; the types of credits handed out are random. The credits given out may also be two spaces of the same type, and are completely random.

Credits are spent even if the character has already changed to the class before. All tier 2 class changes require one Certificate. All tier 3 class changes require one Diploma.

Earning Credits[]

Attk, Arms, Mrchs, Sppts, and Crtfcates are available in the first two months, while the X versions open in March. The II and II X versions open beginning in August. Crtfcates and Diplomas are, early in the game, only available from main story missions. Usually, after the first Certificate or Diploma is awarded, the game will begin awarding them as a "silent" reward to the top and runner-up contributors; once they are listed as part of the potential rewards, they may be awarded to any participant in the battle at random.

Notes/Tips[]

  • March Credits are often offered for an Escort APC, Take Point, and Secure Supply missions. Support is given for Defend Base and Defend Line missions. Attack is given for Capture Enemy camps, while Arms is given for Defeat Enemy Commander, or Clear Enemies missions.
  • Unfortunately, Certificates and Diplomas are completely random. For characters to receive them, they must be used in the field, and must take out a number of enemies, capture camps, heal friendlies, or rescue ally units, but the system mostly relies on the Random Number Generator. You may have to think long and hard about keeping your favorite character on the team should they never receive one.
