Reiner receives a letter from his best friend, Sigrid, stating that he has joined the rebel forces after hearing their speech in town, and encourages him to join him and enlist.
Soon after, they receive a mission involving a rebel squad. Reiner, believing that Sigrid may be in that squad, asks Avan to let him go with him to try to talk some sense into his best friend.

Aftermath[]
Avan and Reiner both look at the destruction brought to the town by the rebels. Sigrid approaches, recognizing his best friend and realizing with a shock that it was Reiner's squad that he had fought with. Reiner asks him why he had done this to the town, and Sigrid defends his actions, by stating that it was all done to bring Gallia peace, blaming the leadership for all the chaos that was happening, and that he could shape Gallia's future by being in the revolution. He beseeches Reiner to join him.
Reiner snaps, pointing out the destruction around them, demanding if this way the method Sigrid thought of to bring peace. When the latter replied that it was a sacrifice for the sake of obtaining peace, Reiner mentions Elena, their friend who died because of the war, who was like a sister to both of them, asking Sigrid if her death was a sacrifice too. He evokes the memory of the promise they both made after her death, that no one would die in the war again. Reiner declares that he joined Lanseal to defend his town, and asks Sigrid what he was fighting for in the rebel army, leaving him to think.
Avan asks Reiner if he's going to leave it at that, and the latter states that he has faith that Sigrid will come to his senses and honor their promise.
