Chapter 16: Forseti's Judgement is the sixteenth chapter in Valkyria Chronicles 4. The combat mission in this is The Breakthrough.

Mission Briefing[]

"Time is running out, so I'll try to make this brief."

"The Centurion is caught in the enemy trap. A select few soldiers are going to disable the electrified wires. The strike team will consist of Sergeant Raz and one other squadmate. According to Captain Wallace, a whiteout will soon reduce visibility. Under cover of the snow, the strike team will advance on the generator in the back. We'll also deploy a decoy team to keep the Imperial troops distracted and spread thin... And even if the mission is a success, we won't have time to extract the strike team. Therefore, any team leaders or irreplaceable squad members won't be allowed to join them. I'm afraid you'll need to select the soldier who will deploy with Raz for the strike team."

Location: Frozen Forest Island

Description: To secure the enemy's power supply, Raz and 1 ally must reach their destination without falling into critical condition. A visibility-reducing whiteout hits every other turn.

"That's everything. Commence operations, Captain Wallace."

Strategy[]

Select the member of your choice to go on a suicide mission with Raz

The units you want to deploy are your leader units, an extra scout and two lancers. The class that works best with Raz is a scout or a shocktrooper. The main strategy of this map is knowing the layout and what comes after you.

This mission has a whiteout weather condition. This will reduce your field of vision and will make the map like a fog of war. This will also prevent a lot of interception fire due to poor visibility.


Start the mission with one of your scouts, this scout should be used to go to the camp located northwest. This scout will find an enemy shocktrooper guarding the camp, use a grenade at the frozen tree next to him. Then use another CP to kill the shocktrooper and capture the camp. This scout can also kill a grenadier that is near the camp, but the biggest danger for this scout is that enemy snipers will most likely put you into critical condition at the end of your turn, so retreat this scout. Deploy a shocktrooper from this camp.

Then have the Cactus and pick up some of your units, two lancers and a scout. Keep going north, until you see a shocktrooper, and kill him with the cactus. Then go past the turret. Eventually, you will come across a tank. Deploy one of your lancers and use it to destroy the tank. There is also another tank hidden near the trees to the left. Then use the Cactus again to kill the lancer guarding the northeast camp.

Now use Raz with Direct Command to bring his partner with him, when he runs out of AP, use a grenade at the fallen tree so that you can pass for later. If you manage to run a little further, you actually will encounter an enemy shocktrooper. You can either use a flamethrower on or him or ignore him by hiding in the grass. Then hide in the grass when your turn ends.

After surviving the enemy phase, kill all the units guarding the northeast camp by using the cactus. Then deploy one of your scouts from the cactus to capture the northeast camp, have this scout climb the ladder to the upper ledge. This scout will find a grenadier hiding there, use a grenade to kill him. Then deploy a lancer from the Cactus and go to the same area where you discover that grenadier.

Proceed with Raz and his partner using the direct command and go to the northwest area, hide in the grass. Then deploy a shocktrooper and a scout from the northwest camp. Usually, if there are no targets to hit, the enemy will immediately end their phase.

When you get your turn back, have the lancer on the northeast side of the map to destroy the tank placed on the north side of the map. Then use the same lancer to aim at the fake frozen tree to show a Ragna-crate. Destroy the Ragna crate to destroy the turret. Now with that newly deploy scout on the northwest base, use the scout explore the northwest side of the map. There should be a fake frozen tree there, destroy it with a grenade. Just pass this point, there will be ace shocktrooper. I would recommend using one of your shocktroopers that is deployed from your northwest camp to take this guy out. Once you have taken care of this guy, just a little further is another grenadier.

Now use Raz with Direct Command, and continue further north, there is also a shocktrooper hiding on the right corner of the ledge. If you have CP to spare, you can even make it to the grass on the northwest side of the map, if you get there you will need to kill the shocktrooper that's hiding there.

On the next turn, Raz and his partner should able to make it to the destination with the turret and the tank destroyed. If you're planning on a one turn run of this mission, the trick is basically to rush through this entire mission with a Leader scout bringing Raz to the destination and hope for the Double AP battle potential to trigger.

After the mission, Marie will give you the Reinforced Cap accessory if you got an A rank. Then the Veteran's Buckle as you begin the next chapter.

Aftermath[]

The ally sent with Raz will stay behind to hold off more imperials, while Raz goes on to disable the trap. This will result in the death of both.
