Chapter 04: The Battle of Siegval, Part 1 is the first part of Chapter 4 in Valkyria Chronicles 4. The first combat mission is called Breaking the Line 1.
Stanley and Dan are recruited at the beginning of this chapter.
Story[]
Topography[]
The battlefield takes place on a plain that gently slopes uphill to the cliffs where the Siegval Line is located. While there's little cover in the open, there's grass to hide in certain places, wrecked tanks, and walls scattered throughout. In addition, there are four ridges: Two to the north, and two in the central area of the map. Each is defended by a varying number of gun emplacements and infantry.
Squad E will begin in the south part of the map and make their way northwards to take the Imperial base camp at the mouth of the passageway leading into the cliffs. Multiple Imperial camps are located, with three along the first ridgeline, one in the center of the plains between all the ridges, and one next to the NE ridge.
Landmarks
- Siegval Line
Your orders are as follows:[]
"Squad E's task is to secure a bridgehead from which to break the Siegval Line. But it's not going to be easy. There are pillboxes along the defensive perimeter. The enemy forces are concentrated upfront, so a frontal assault would prove difficult. Finding routes around them might be safer, but any path will be dangerous. Use the terrain and tank wreckage as cover. One more thing. Enemy reinforcements are en route from the back lines, so get ready."
Location: Siegval Line, Cliffside Front
Description: Break through the Siegval Line's cliffside defenses and capture the enemy base camp. Anti-tank mines deal critical damage to tanks that roll over them, so be careful and consider deploying an Engineer.
"That is all. Now tear down the iron wall!"

Notes/Trivia[]
- This is the first battle where Imperial Assault Tanks are encountered.
- The background gunfire from the cliffs deal minor damage to infantry if they hit.
- By default, only two Federate Tanks will arrive as reinforcements if none of the enemy camps are captured. The third will only appear if the east camp has been captured.
